ABOUT THE PRACTICE
Who We Are
Our Principal lawyer, Peter Guirguis, is recognised as one of the leading criminal lawyers in the state. He prides himself on his integrity, work ethic and forensic decision making in securing the best possible outcome in your case.
Peter is one of a limited number of Accredited Criminal Law Specialists as recognised by the Law Society of New South Wales. He has for many years been a senior member of the Law Society Criminal Law Specialist Accreditation Advisory Committee – one of nine lawyers in the state who set and mark assessments in selecting Accredited Specialists in Criminal Law in NSW.
Peter has practised exclusively in criminal law for 14 years. He started his career at the Aboriginal Legal Service at Dubbo and Walgett where he regularly appeared in high volume and complex cases in surrounding country courts in the Central West of NSW.
His skills have been refined over time through results-driven and extremely high workload environments. His distinguished career in government is a testament to his passion for criminal law, having held various senior managerial and specialist court advocacy roles at Legal Aid NSW in metropolitan Sydney and regional NSW.
Peter is highly experienced in defending cases across the broad spectrum of criminal offences, routinely appearing in complex trials, bail applications, sentence proceedings, appeal proceedings and contested hearings in all court jurisdictions in metropolitan Sydney and regional NSW.
Peter is a clinical lawyer with an eye for detail who makes every effort to deliver the best possible result in each of his cases – no matter how complex or simple the case may seem. His methodical approach to each case, combined with commitment and empathy towards his clients, enables him to achieve client satisfaction in all of his cases with minimal fuss. His work ethic and determination places him in a position to do all that is necessary to deliver the best outcome in all cases that come his way.
Peter’s ability to solve legal problems and deconstruct briefs of evidence is second to none. Peter has the ability to methodically analyse cases, apply relevant legal principles and explain complex legal concepts in simple terms without the jargon.
He is highly respected by members of the profession and the judiciary and is known for his meticulous preparation, thorough analysis of every aspect of the case, and his ability to present principled and persuasive submissions in court.
